Top 5 Ethical Brands for Women

If you really stop to think about it, every item we buy, whether that be clothes, food or household items, has an impact on the rest of the world. It is up to us as consumers to choose whether we wish to have a negative or positive impact, and choosing ethically sourced products is one easy way we can make a difference. This is why I have decided to make a list of my favourite ethical brands! Take a look!

1. Inkkas
The Inkkas company was founded on the principles of Fair Trade and Philanthropy. These bright and funky cruelty-free shoes, bags and jewellery are handmade by communities in South America whose lives have been drastically improved by the team at Inkkas who have helped to alleviate poverty in those areas. The company also helps the environment with their ‘One Shoe One Tree’ campaign, where they plant a tree for every product they sell. As Inkkas say, “Don’t just buy a product, buy a small piece of a better world!”

2. People Tree
100% Organic, Fair Trade and Sustainable fashion that looks and feels fabulous! People Tree stock the comfiest on-trend clothing with all items made from organic cotton sourced from their fairtrade farmers. I’m particularly fond of their graphic t-shirts – spreads a message whilst being fun and looking fabulous!

3. Lush
I am in love with Lush bath and body products! They smell divine, so much so you are almost tempted to eat half the products in the shop! Lush are one of the leading companies in cruelty-free cosmetics and skincare with all products 100% Vegetarian (with a lot that are Vegan) and I admire their campaigns against animal testing. They also support many charities in the areas of environment, animal protection and human rights. Seriously girls, if you haven’t tried a Lush bath bomb, you haven’t lived!

4. Toms
Comfy, cool and cruelty-free! Toms now have a vegan range of their shoes meaning that no animals were harmed in the making of their products, and Toms also give a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair that you buy! As far as ethical and fashionable footwear goes, they’re one of the best!

5. 31 Bits
Are you a fan of beautiful, one-of-a-kind jewellery? Then, like me, you will love 31 Bits! 31 Bits is a company that empowers women in Uganda to earn money to support their families and to help their communities thrive. They also care for these people in many other ways too, offering counselling, healthcare, education and business training. Every woman they help graduate through their schemes ends up with her own business and is healthy and confident! Women helping women – what’s not to love?
