Do you suffer with bouts of anxiety and stress? In this day and age, who doesn’t! But I have stumbled across a simple little cure. Vanilla. That’s right! Vanilla has a really lovely sweet taste and the smell is soft, warm and incredibly inviting. The smell of Vanilla ‘has actually has been proven to relieve anxiety, and reduce stress that gets in the way of our everyday life‘. So I have put this to the test…
Every day before I sit down at my desk, I spray my area with a Boots ‘Natural Collection’ vanilla body spray and I instantly feel a little lift. And it makes the office smell great too!
I have also started to light vanilla tea lights which are very popular, especially on the lead up to Christmas. I light these up for about an hour before I go to bed and they set me in the right frame of mind ready for a good nights sleep.
Of course it’s not all about the smell, it’s the taste too! You can get some healthy vanilla tasting products and even make your own Vanilla infused water.
All you need is:
3 vanilla beans
1 1/2 cups local honey
3 cups Water
Club Soda (or UK alternative)
‘Split the vanilla beans in half, and toss those in a sauce pan with 3 cups of water and 1 1/2 cups honey. Bring the mixture to a boil, then strain out the vanilla beans. Once cool, fill a glass half way with the infused water and add ice and 2 orange slices. Top off with some soda water, then garnish with another orange slice and a sliver of a vanilla bean’.
I have yet to try this but it sounds super yummy!
You can also try using vanilla smelling body moisturiser and even bath foam and really create a stress and anxiety free zone!
