Top family friendly holiday destinations

Picking a holiday destination for your family is a hard decision to make. Whether you are limited by finances or have a personal preference on distance, picking the location for your yearly family getaway can be stressful. So, I have come up with a list of top family friendly holiday destinations, both here in the UK and abroad – hopefully there will be something to suit all!

Want an unique, one off, holiday experience that all your young children will love? Why not enjoy a holiday on a real working farm? You and your children can help milk the cows, bottle-feed the lambs and collect their own eggs every morning for breakfast. There are many locations in the UK that offer this experience to guests – Dorset, Cornwall and Somerset to name but a few.

Why not take the kids across the channel to Brittany or Normandy? Channel tunnel trains or car ferries are frequent and reasonably priced – they only take twenty minutes from leaving Dover to get to Calais. The north of France offers a wonderful foreign holiday experience, while still being relatively close to home. Catering is not a problem either, if you chose to go self catered, the supermarkets offer a wide range of goods and if you stay in a hotel, restaurants offer a large selection of meals, there will be something to eat even for the pickiest of children.

If you fancy travelling further afield and giving your children the delights of flying, why not holiday in the Algarve in Portugal. There are many chic, yet child friendly hotels which are situated within a national park. There are plenty of gorgeous beaches and fun activities for children of all ages.

If you fancy a holiday at a destination a little closer to home, the Lake District is absolutely ideal for a family friendly holiday for all ages at anytime of the year. The natural awe inspiring scenery will inspire your teenage children to conquer peaks and explore caves, whilst the much younger members of the family can enjoy horseback rides or adventures on the steam train.

Holidays can also be a very daunting time, perhaps if you are a single parent or have very young children, but not to worry, there are many holidays, at home here in the UK or abroad, catered for just these family situations.

Why not have a stunning, yet affordable holiday in Robin Hood’s Bay? What a fantastic, picturesque place to stay for a perfect beach holiday, with many fun activities to do with your children. Or, if you fancy going abroad with your little ones, then perhaps try a holiday in Turkey. Turkey is such a perfect country to visit with children. It has a warm climate, with fabulous beaches and stunning scenery – there is so much to explore and do!

Now, if you want to take a trip with a tiny baby, but you fear there is no point, well look no further as you could have a perfect break away in Porth near Newquay. Some of the ideal hotels here include free bottle warmers, baby monitors and also sterilisers in their family rooms. These are also reasonably priced if you are counting those pennies! If you fancy an adventure abroad with your tiny tot, then why not take a trip to Greece? Yes, you read that correctly, Greece! With their Ofsted inspected resort creches and complimentary supplies of swimming nappies – what’s not to love?!

So, whether you have pennies to your name or are a newly single parent, there is a holiday destination for you and your children this year!
