Smashbox – a product review

Smashbox is a make-up brand that I have never used before, so I was really excited to try out their products. I was sent the photo finish pore minimizing primer, be legendary long wear lip lacquer in fuchsia and in lilac and the always sharp lip liner in peony and shocking pink.

The first one I was eager to use was the primer. I loved how easy it was to apply and it blended in with my skin tone effortlessly, leaving my skin feeling silky smooth. I have a few small pores on my nose and they instantly became less visible, with most of them seeming to disappear. I applied my usual foundation over the top and was really pleased with the end result. The best ‘perk’ was my foundation stayed on longer than it normally does. The next day I was feeling a bit braver so applied the primer without any foundation and actually felt like my complexion was flawless and I could get away with a more natural day time look.

The next items I wanted to try were the lip lacquers. The first thing I noticed about these was the great packaging. I love how they are black and clear with your favoured colour showing through. Both of these are gorgeous, vibrant colours, with my personal favourite being the fuchsia. They made my lips feel luscious, fuller and soft and it stayed on for a few hours without drying up and needing to be re-applied, which I was very impressed with. Once it did start to dry up I noticed that my lips were still coloured as if I had used a tint on them, this colour was slightly lighter but still nice and lasted another couple of hours. I don’t normally wear lip liners but thought I would give these ago. I love how they are twist cap, no more lids popping off in your make up bag and ruining your lining! Better still, this twist cap feature also self sharpens the liner so it is always ready to use. Although I am not experienced at using a lip liner I found these easy to apply and you only need to touch the tip gently on your lips and the colour is transferred. Since reviewing these, I have had a lot of comments on how nice my lips looks and I am now a lip liner convert, thank you Smashbox! To view the full range of colours click here
