Rewards for kindness

Who has time to be kind?

We all do. Being kind isn’t something that needs to be worked on, it should come automatically, no matter how old you are or what you’ve been through, but to me it seems quite rare.

There’s a difference between being kind and being fake. You’ll know, over time, which of these qualities people are demonstrating or, if they’re bad actors then you’ll feel it straight away. Kindness, to me, is measured with time. You can’t sincerely tell if someone is being kind straight away, but over time you will see. It’s relative to the whole ‘you will only find a handful of real friends during your life time’ idiom. This may be true, but that shouldn’t be the case and no matter the age, likes, agenda, lifestyle or whatever else, being kind should just be first protocol for everyone.

Why is it that those who show kindness and are kind throughout their lives get punished and labelled as weak? I do not understand the concept of this. Surely if you’re being kind you should be rewarded for your empathy but it seems that the word ‘kind’ has been misunderstood. There is a difference between being kind and being a push over, not everyone who is kind and sympathetic will accept abuse or being controlled. Maybe the whole package comes together as a bundle, like our gadget sales, but humanity has completely lost the plot to our innate understanding of feelings. Over the years, we are fed, by the media, what’s cool and what our celebrities are like. A lot of the population seems to want to be like someone famous. Yes there are perks of being loaded and famous but there is no telling how and what they go through on a daily basis. How do we know how they feel, who they are and what they’re really like? We go on what they wear, how they present themselves and maybe a quote from them every now and then, which is probably falsified as well. We lust over fantasy and the concept of perfection and having everything, yet we forget the ideals and the simple behaviours of being humane.

We are all humans with the same core, same bones, maybe different ideals but we are all human and every one of us makes mistakes, has a few regrets, feels emotions, cares, over thinks, wonders, dreams and acts. It’s all there, but some of us have a better concept and are put into the weak category just because we sympathise and are kind.

At the end of the day, you are who you are and you are who you want to be. If you wish to be rude or wish to be unkind, that is your decision, you’re in charge of your own happiness but try not to involve others in your craziness and disappointment. Some people do not deserve to be used and ignored, so just think before you say something or disregard their honesty and empathy.
