Menopause: What is it?
They say it’s the end of a woman’s time to procreate…no longer viable to get pregnant…no longer fertile…
Hmmmm…
Does it make us a mature woman…
Does it mean the end of our sexuality? Where before we were entering womanhood; and now????
Hmmmm…
It’s a mystery that we don’t even think about when we’re young women. It’s like when we are pregnant with our first child and the unknown turns into fear as we draw closer to labour. What can we expect? Stories from other women that can be scary. I can recall my first pregnancy and wondering how the baby’s head was going to come through the birth canal and out of me. Will it be so painful that I won’t be able to live through it? Will I somehow realise that it will be okay and that it’s something natural that has occurred every millisecond, every day, for hundreds of thousands of years, thus far…yet I was still scared to go forward, even knowing that I had no choice but to do just that…
Miraculously, everything does come out okay in the end; thus my entry into motherhood. WOO! (27 years later after the birth of my two wonderful sons). SMILE!!!
Now, I am at that same place in my life where I will be going through another phase of womanhood. So, I know that my ovaries will begin it’s descent into less oestrogen production and it’s only a matter of time before I begin to experience the change in my body once more. I’ve witnessed the hot flashes🔥 that my family and friends suffers through and the loss of my menstrual cycle is anticipated, but I’m hoping that my symptoms won’t be severe. I’m wishing that my experience will be workable…
I have included some information on the subject that I thought would be helpful.
