Writers! It’s coming to that time of year again. The wonderful ‘NaNoWriMo’ Challenge. 50,000 words in 30 days. It may sound scary but it’s doable when you break it down and realise that it works out at about 1600 words per day.
For those who don’t know about this project, November is National Novel Writing Month and sees many writers attempting to write a first draft of a novel by the end of the month.
Friends will know I have made a ridiculous amount of notes on plot points, character bios, poetic spells and books to read, relevant to my chosen genre. I am determined to complete it this year and spend at least six months afterwards editing. This book idea will expand into a trilogy but I am just focusing on the first book at the moment and I hope I can cope after killing some wonderful characters off (it has to be done so the story progresses).
Last year I completed 25,000 words of a ‘chick lit’ novel, which I haven’t looked at since but that will not happen this year. The only problem is I have a full time job I need to work around so I’m hoping my manager won’t mind me writing a few notes here and there.
Any fellow writers attempting NaNoWriMo this year, it would be good to keep in touch and motivate each other throughout the month, so why not comment below and let me know!
