Here we are, standing on the precipice of what could be our best year ever, so we wanted to stop by and just wish each and every one of you a happy and healthy 2016, while also taking the chance to talk about the ‘new year, new you’ phenomenon.
We don’t put much stock in the idea that a new year has to mean a totally reinvented version of yourself and though you might like the idea of using January 1st as your milestone, we want you to think of things in a far more positive way! Instead of ‘new year, new you’, why not think of things in terms of ‘new year, FABULOUS you’? Why do you have to change? Can you not simply focus on being happy this year and whatever leads to that, so be it?
The pressure to totally alter ourselves just because midnight has rolled around is immense. All of a sudden, people everywhere are pledging to eat green, go to the gym and make this the year they finally fit in a dress they bought years ago and while these are positive goals, the pressure that comes with them is anything but! It’s the pressure that actually makes most people fail to stick to their resolutions within the first month and with that ‘failure’, comes depression and a feeling of having let yourself down. We want none of that this year!
Let’s all strive to make 2016 the year that we proactively seek happiness. Yes, this is a vague and open to interpretation resolution, but that’s what makes it so easy to keep! If you want to start going to the gym, do it. If you want that carrot cake, eat it. If it makes you happy and contributes something positive to your life and well being, don’t go without!
Say it with us ladies… “My resolution for 2016 is to be happy being me”.
