Movies & Music

Glastonbury 2014

I am currently trying to catch up on some of the musicians I missed over the weekend at Glastonbury but there are SO many amazing bands/singers!

I downloaded the EE app and even did my own line up on the BBC but still didn’t manage to catch up with it all.

I’m currently watching Bryan Ferry on the West Holts Stage with his brilliant band (mostly female…whoop!) His drummer is female and she is incredible!

I did however manage to watch the AMAZING Dolly Parton, the Queen of Country herself! She looks incredible for her age. I really love watching Dolly perform. She has such a wonderful, positive nature and I could tell from the audience that it just radiates from her. She started with ‘Baby I’m Burnin’ going nicely into ‘Girl is on Fire’ by Alicia Keys. Such a fabulous medley! She then went on to sing some of her greatest hits including ‘9-5′, ‘Coat of Many Colors’, ‘Jolene’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’ which she dedicated to the people of Glasto. She said she also wrote a song especially for Glasto, which from what I gathered was called ‘Mud‘. She really got into the spirit of the festival!

Dolly also performed some of her new stuff including ‘Blue Smoke’ which is the one I liked.

The thing with Dolly is her songs are simple but every effective and she sings from the heart about her life and growing up. Just like the majority of country singers.

Next on my list to catch up on are Blondie (another epic singer from the 80s!) Robert Plant, and Lily Allen. Did you catch any of it this year?
